The City of Versailles is the county seat of Woodford County and was founded in 1792. Located just off the Martha Layne Collins Parkway (Bluegrass Parkway), it is nestled in central Kentucky within a short distance of Lexington, Frankfort, and Louisville. Versailles is totally surrounded by beautiful, serene farmland and some of the most famous horse farms in the Bluegrass region. Most of these horse farms are home to famous Kentucky thoroughbreds and winners of the famed Kentucky Derby. Also, Woodford County is proud to be the home of numerous Kentucky bourbon products including Woodford Reserve.
